GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION TO B.Ed. COURSES FOR THE YEAR 2015-2017
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO THE COURSE
A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the course leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed ) provided:
  • The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) or 11+1+3 (15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board of CBSE or any other recognized Board of Education/Examination and U.G Degree examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/ Higher Secondary Education level.
  • Candidates who have taken more than one main subject in Part III/Part IV under Double/Triple Major system) of U.G Degree course should have Choose only one of the main subjects and should have applied for that Optional only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in Two/Three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive percentage of marks as stipulated in item (v)
  • Candidates who have qualified in P.G Degree (5 Year integrated Course) under 10+2+5 or 11+1+5 pattern of study shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the P.G shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed Degree Course.
    • Candidates who have done their U.G degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for Mathematics.
    • Candidates who have done their U.G degree in Bio-Chemistry and Applied Chemistry can apply for Physical Science.
    • Candidates who have done their U.G degree in Applied Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics and Electronics can apply for Physical Science
    • Candidates who have done their U.G Degree in Bio-Technology and Plant-Biology and Plant Biotechnology can apply for Biological Science.
    • Candidates who have done their U.G Degree in Environmental Science and Micro-Biology can apply for Biological Science.
    • Candidates who have done their U.G Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application etc.,can apply for computer Science.
    • Post Graduate candidates in Economics, Commerce, Home Science. Polltical Science, sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian culture with 50% (irrespective of their UG marks) of marks in PG Degree or in the interdisciplinary subjects which are being declared equivalent by the respective University can apply.
    • The candidates qualified in PG Degree and secured 50% of marks with the same major subjects in UG Degree but not flitting the minimum percentage of marks required in UG Degree as per community/category-wise will be eligible to apply.
    • Candidates who have done their UG level without language Tamil or other Indian Language under Part-1 and are awarded degree with English and Main subjects concerned need to be considered for admission to B.Ed. subject to the condition that they have to qualify in Tamil Language Test conducted by the TNPSC for the purpose of employment.
    • Candidates with the following marks in the Bachelor’s Degree are eligible for admission to the course other than Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture subjects for which PG qualification is mandatory.
  • Candidates with the following marks in the Bachelor’s Degree are eligible for admission to the course other than Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture subjects for which PG qualification is mandatory.

  • In the case of Physically and Visually challenged candidates a minimum pass in the degree in enough.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO THE COURSE
A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the course leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed ) provided:
  • The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3 (15) or 11+1+3(15) Pattern of study and passed the qualifiying examination conducted by the respective State Board of CBSE or any other recognized Universities and a minimum of 50% marks both in Theory and Practicals separately in B.Ed., degree irrespective of the community.
  • The candidates should have undergone 10+2+4 Year Integrated B.Ed., or 11+1+4 Year Integrated B.Ed., with a minimum of 50% marks both in Theory and Practicals separately irrespective of the community.
  • Candidates who have passed the U.G. of P.G. degree in Open University System without qualifying in 11 years SSLC examination and 1 year of Pre-University Course (P.U.C) examination or 10+2 patter of School Education examination will not be considered for admission.
  • Candidates who have passed under Dual Degree , Later entry and Additional Degree Programme with less than three years duration are not eligible for admission.
  • The percentage of marks in B.Ed degree is calculated by adding the marks obtained in Theory and Practicals.
Reservation of seats
  • Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to BC, MBC/DNC,SC and ST communities will be made as per the rules and regulations of the Government.
    • (i) In the 18% for Scheduled Castes (SC),3% of seats will be offered to Arunthathiyars (within the seats for SC)
    • (ii) Scheduled Tribes(ST) 1%
    • (iii) Most Backward Classes (MBC) and Denotified Communities(DNC) 20%
    • (iv) Backward Classes(BC) 30%, within this 3.5% for Muslims
